KOMARNO – The host of the second MEVZA tournament for men was Rieker UJS Komarno which had 100% efficiency.
The home players from Komarno showed themselves in the best form of this tournament, winning both their matches with full points. In the first duel against Spartak Myjava, the match was dramatic and both teams had more set balls, Komarno had stronger nerves and won 3:0 in the Slovak derby.
Gabriel Chocho?ak, coach of Rieker UJS: „We won the match 3:0. I’m happy with the result, but I’m not happy that we made a lot of “cheap” mistakes. We have been fighting this for a long time. In the last two sets, we had to worry about the result, and especially in the endings, we could pay for it. We were inconsistent in what we were supposed to do. A match with a happy ending for us, but we must avoid these unnecessary mistakes in the future, which make it difficult for us to develop the match.“
Vitalij Osipov, coach of TJ Spartak: „We lost 0:3, which we regret. We led in all sets, but we were not able to convert the promising lead into a win of even one set. In the decisive moments of sets and matches, we are not able to find a good solution to the game situation.“
Amstetten players started the second match better than the Spartak team, winning the first set with a great serve, but then Myjava’s game consolidated and turned the match around, winning 3-1 in the end.
Vitalij Osipov, coach of TJ Spartak: „Before the match with Amstetten, we said to ourselves that if we forget the match against Komárno and there will be a different atmosphere on the field, then we will win. We managed to do that and we are very happy. We needed this win. The first set didn’t work for us when we got too many points in one position and that must not happen to us. We controlled the second, third and fourth sets and deservedly won the match.“
Andrej Urnaut, coach of VCA Amstetten: „I think we started well, we served well and our game was also good, that’s why we won the first set. Then we started to have problems with the opponent’s service and then with the reception, from where we could not get back into the match. If we had played better, we would have won the match.“
On the last day, home Komarno started well against Amstetten and won the first set, but then the Austrian team equalized and had a set point in the fourth set, but Komarno was patient and finally won this match by three points.
Gabriel Chocho?ak, coach of Rieker UJS: “Although we won the match against Amstetten, we again complicated its progress. We lost our concentration and the opponent was gaining ground. I wanted to let Fer Ogur?ák rest, but in the end I had to pull him off the bench because we couldn’t pull it off ourselves. We are happy with the victory of three points, but our performance was not greasy. We have something to work on.”
After the second round of tournaments, the leader is team ACH Ljubljana with five victories and the last is Mladost Kaštela with five defeats.
