Spartak Myjava defeated Kaštela on the first day in MEVZA

KAMNIK – In the second match of the first day of the Mevza League tournament in Kamnik, Spartak Myjava defeated Mladost Ribola Kaštela 3-1.

The team of Ribola from Kaštela returned to the Mevza League after three years and Spartak won only four times in 16 matches last season, but this year, the Slovakian team started with a victory, while the Croatians were left empty-handed upon their return.

In the first set, Mladost Ribola led by 16-14, but with a partial result of 5-0, the Slovaks gained the advantage. Mladost got two final balls in the end of the set, but Spartak’s Tobiaš Viskup, their reinforcement this year, used the second. The Slovakian players had a better start to the second set, leading 13-8 in the middle of the set, and after Dominik Valo’s block it was already 18-11. The set ended with Mladost’s eleventh error.

At the beginning of the third set, Spartak took a 4-2 lead. The Croatians did not let go of the advantage of four points, unlike the first two sets, they significantly reduced the number of their mistakes, and Benjamin Daca ended the set with a block. But in the fourth set, the Slovaks escaped by six points and then by ten. The match was finished by Dominik Valo who brought first victory of the season to his team.

Kaštela saved two set balls in the first set, however, in the second and fourth sets they have been in submissive position the entire time. They improved their performance in the third set, they scored more aces than their opponents and were better on the receiving end, while being slightly worse on offense and in the block. The biggest difference between the two rivals was in the number of their mistakes, where the Croatian volleyball players were in the lead.

On the second day of the Kamnik tournament, the SK Zadruga Aich/Dob and Ribola Kaštela teams will compete at 3.0 p.m., and at 5:30 p.m. the home team of Calcit Volley will play against the team of Kaštela.
