Slovenia Extends Contract with Head Coach Alessandro Orefice


The Volleyball Federation of Slovenia has extended its contract with Alessandro Orefice, the head coach of the Slovenian women’s national team. The Italian coach, who has been leading the team since last year, will continue in his role until at least the end of 2026.

Slovenia Prepares for Historic World Championship Debut

Slovenia’s women’s volleyball team is gearing up for a busy international season, highlighted by their first-ever appearance at the World Championship. Their journey starts with preparations in May, followed by participation in the Golden European League in June and July. In early August, they will compete in the European Championship qualifiers, culminating in their historic World Championship debut in Thailand from August 22 to September 7.

Federation President Praises Orefice’s Impact

Metod Ropret, President of the Volleyball Federation of Slovenia, emphasized the significance of Orefice’s leadership and the positive changes he has brought to the team:

“We are pleased to extend Alessandro’s contract. He joined us during a challenging time and has played a key role in bringing back some of our best players. His enthusiasm and energy have made a real impact, and we believe he will continue driving the team’s growth as we prepare for our first World Championship.”

Orefice’s Vision for Slovenia’s Future

Expressing his excitement, Orefice shared his commitment to the team’s development:

“I’m honored to continue leading Slovenia’s national team. We built a strong foundation in just four months, and I believe we can become a competitive force in upcoming tournaments. This extension allows us to focus on both short-term success and long-term goals.”
