Pool Play Action Heats Up at MEVZA Beach Volleyball Championship 2025 in Bibinje

The main draw of the MEVZA Beach Volleyball Championship 2025 officially kicked off today in Bibinje as the women’s Pool Play delivered a full day of dominant performances, emerging rivalries, and clear title intentions.

After an intense day of qualifications on Wednesday, the tournament’s top-seeded pairs wasted no time asserting their authority in today’s group stage openers. Slovenian and Czech teams, in particular, showed strong early form, sweeping their matches across both courts without dropping a single set.

On Court 1, Slovenia’s Kotnik and Marolt M. opened the day by overpowering Croatia’s Volaric and Devcic with a convincing straight-sets win (21:13, 21:14). Their confident start set the tone for the rest of the morning, as Czech duo Pospisilova and Mokra dismantled another Croatian pair, Giljusic and Markovic, allowing just 15 total points over two sets in a lopsided encounter (21:6, 21:9).

The Croatian struggles continued later in the session. Sos and Biuk put up a decent fight in the first set against Slovenia’s Kalar and Gorjup but collapsed in the second (17:21, 6:21), handing Slovenia another commanding win. Meanwhile, Slovakia’s Elekova and Bundzelova ended the Court 1 program with an impressive display of cohesion and power to defeat Czech team Stara and Stastna (21:13, 21:19).

Court 2 saw similarly dominant performances, especially from the Czech Republic. Kubickova and Pluharova held their nerve to take down Israel’s Maor and Gonzalez (21:14, 21:19), while fellow Czechs Tonova and Hynkova kept control in both sets against Lavie and Danenberg, sealing the win in identical fashion (21:18, 21:18).

Slovakia’s Harmanova and Slezakova looked sharp against Austria’s Hammarberg and Bisanz, executing clean plays and solid defense to clinch another 2:0 victory (21:13, 21:14). To close out the women’s pool matches, the Czech team Frommova and Marcelova handled Hungary’s Honti-Majoros and Szabo in straight sets (21:16, 21:18), adding another win to the Czech camp’s dominant tally.
