Volleyball clubs Budva and Buducnost Volley will represent Montenegro in the MEVZA League starting next season, marking the country’s debut in this prestigious regional competition.
To commemorate this significant milestone, a press conference was held today at the Hilton Hotel in Podgorica. Speakers included Nikola Kazic, President of the Volleyball Federation of Montenegro (OSCG), Frane Zanic, Director of the MEVZA League, and club representatives Milos Mitrovic, President of Buducnost Volley, and Balsa Radunovic, President of OK Budva.
Montenegro will be represented in the MEVZA League by Budva’s men’s team, while both the men’s and women’s squads of Buducnost Volley will participate in this premier edition for Montenegrin clubs. This participation represents a major step forward for Montenegrin volleyball, enhancing the international visibility and competitiveness of its clubs.
OSCG President Nikola Kazic emphasized that the entry into the MEVZA League is the result of dedicated work and a strategic approach to the development of volleyball in Montenegro. He highlighted that this is an important move toward strengthening regional cooperation and promoting domestic clubs on the international stage. Kazic also mentioned that aside from Budva and Buducnost, there is potential for at least one more Montenegrin club to join the MEVZA League, with further discussions to follow.
MEVZA Director Frane Zanic expressed his satisfaction with the inclusion of Montenegrin teams, noting that the arrival of new clubs will bring additional energy and quality to the league, enriching the competition overall.
Balsa Radunovic, President of OK Budva, stated that participating in the MEVZA League is a great honor and privilege for the club. He stressed that Budva’s goals go beyond mere participation – they aim to compete as equals and establish themselves as a serious contender in the tournament.
Milos Mitrovic, President of Buducnost Volley, said the club’s inclusion in the MEVZA League is the result of a clear vision, strategic planning, and years of dedicated effort. He added that being among the teams in this prestigious regional league is a tremendous honor for the club.
