MEVZA’s Executive Committee meets for the first time in Hungary

Budapest, Hungary. On Thursday, July 9, MEVZA’s Executive Committee (ExCom) met for the first time at the seat of the Hungarian Volleyball Federation in Budapest. Due to the current global circumstances, the annual ExCom meeting had a few more challenges to consider in their decision making.

In attendance was Secretary General Ivan Iro (CZE) and the entire MEVZA ExCom with President, Karl Hanzl (AUT), Vice-Presidents Zdeslav Barac (CRO), Lubor Halanda (SVK) and Zsolt Ludvig (HUN). Also present through a special invitation were the referee and media coordinators Laszlo Herpai (HUN) and Nejc Zemljak (SLO) to present and report about the recent projects started in MEVZA’s name during the last period.

The 4-hour meeting’s agenda included the following topics:

  • MEVZA Financial situation
    • MEVZA has made some investments to develop and grow in the recent years, however is still in good financial standing.
  • MEVZA league 2020/2021
    • ExCom decided to proceed with preparation of both competitions, men’s and women’s. The situation will be monitored and adjusted, if needed.
  • Under Age competitions 2020/2021
    • Underage competition coordinator, Marek Prokes will continue with the preparation and execution of the 4 different events (2 age group for girls, and 2 for boys).
  • Genius sport further cooperation
    • The partnership with Genius for the MEVZA League will continue. The contract is already signed.
  • Media
    • In the last year the new website www.mevza.org has been made and is updated, also added have been a Facebook and Instagram account (@mevzavolley).
  • Referees education program
    • During the Corona break a referee e-learning course has been launched by the referee coordinator Laszlo Herpai and will continue in the foreseeable future.
  • MEVZA Beach Volleyball events
    • Beach volleyball events had to be cancelled due to the restrictions related to the Corona virus. Beach coordinator Frane Žanic has now a green light to run events, while taking into account appropriate safety measures. 
      The ExCom also confirmed a new test U20 team event for this season already, where 2 girls and 2 boys teams will compete together as one unit.
  • MEVZA Meeting connected with CEV General Assembly
    • Next MEVZA meeting will be the day before the CEV General Assembly currently planned in October.

Team Slovenia together again
