The Middle European Volleyball Zonal Association (MEVZA) held its annual Members Meeting at the Novotel Tour Eiffel Hotel in Paris, as part of the XLVI CEV General Assembly weekend. The meeting, chaired by the President of MEVZA, Valentina Bifflin, featured the presentation of the Activity Report for the 2024/25 season, updates on current competitions, and plans for upcoming projects in 2026.
What happened in season 2024/25?
The 2024/25 Activity Report highlighted the successful organization of several youth competitions, including the MEVZA U16 Zonal Qualifications held in January 2025 in Zadar, Croatia for women and Maribor, Slovenia for men, as well as the U18 Championship that was held in June 2025 in Brno, Czech Republic.
In the field of beach volleyball, MEVZA had an extensive competition calendar featuring multiple stages of the MEVZA Zonal Tour in Innsbruck, Bibinje, Kranj, and Esch-sur-Alzette, as well as age-category tournaments and European Qualification events in Portorož and Limassol.
The MEVZA Junior Club Championship 2025 took place in Zadar from March 14–16, 2025, bringing together 15 teams from Israel, Cyprus, Hungary, Slovakia, Czech Republic, Croatia, and Montenegro.

In the MEVZA League 2024/25, 12 clubs were participating: six women’s teams from Slovenia and Croatia, and six men’s teams from Austria, Croatia, Slovakia, and Slovenia. For the 2025/26 season, the League was expanded to include clubs from Montenegro.
The meeting also covered MEVZA’s partnerships, including the ongoing agreement with Genius Sports (2024/25–2029/30) and cooperation with Falkensteiner Hotels & Residences, as well as ongoing negotiations with several potentials sponsors. These partnerships aim to further strengthen MEVZA’s commercial and media presence across the region.
The future of MEVZA
Looking ahead to 2026, MEVZA’s plans include further development of youth competitions, new Club Junior Championships, and a proposal for the introduction of the MEVZA Volleyball Championships for senior national teams.
On Saturday, MEVZA’s President met with CEV President Roko Sikiric and FIVB President Fabio Azevedo, further strengthening the collaboration between the regional, continental, and global volleyball governing bodies.
