Metod Ropret Re-elected as President: A New Term Amidst the Rise of Slovenian Volleyball

The Elective Assembly of the Volleyball Federation of Slovenia convened in Brezovica, where 50 delegates and proxies from Slovenian volleyball clubs re-elected Metod Ropret as president of the federation for a fourth consecutive term.

Ropret has led Slovenia’s primary volleyball organization since 2012. Under his guidance, Slovenian volleyball has achieved impressive results with its national teams and successfully hosted major events such as the CEV EuroVolley 2019, the FIVB World Championship 2022, and the CEV Champions League Superfinals 2022.

Ropret, fueled by renewed motivation, energy, and vision for another term, expressed his satisfaction with the growing recognition of Slovenian volleyball at both the national and international levels.

“In recent years, it’s been truly gratifying to be a part of Slovenian volleyball. I am surrounded by a team that shares my vision, particularly my colleagues at the federation and beyond. We have a fantastic team, and I believe we are moving in the right direction. The number of volleyball clubs in Slovenia is steadily increasing, and the number of teams competing in both senior and junior categories grows each season. In 2024, we achieved a record number of children participating in volleyball. We have proven our capabilities by hosting major volleyball events, running numerous promotional and development programs, and gaining recognition in Slovenia and abroad. I am optimistic about our future and confident that these positive trends will continue.”

In 2024, Slovenian volleyball is also celebrating its centenary, marking 100 years of the sport’s presence and growth in the country.
