ACH Volley LJUBLJANA ended the regular season of the men’s MEVZA League with another comprehensive win, celebrating a clean sweep 3-0 (25-20, 25-17, 25-20) of hosts SK Zadruga AICH/DOB on Monday. Therefore, the ‘Orange Dragons’ achieved a perfect record of 16 victories from 16 matches.
Already next Saturday, these two teams will be facing each other again in the Final Four tournament at the JUFA Arena Bleiburg. Due to their impressive performances in the regular season, defending champions LJUBLJANA are somehow the natural favourites for the most thrilling stage of the competition. In the second semi-final, OK Merkur MARIBOR will clash with HAOK Mladost ZAGREB.
AICH/DOB is currently looking for a new head coach, as Zvonko Nikolic surprisingly announced his retirement on Sunday. At the moment, sports director Martin Micheu is coaching the team. Regarding to the coming semi-final, Micheu said: “We know what we have to expect, ACH Volley will certainly be even stronger than today. We need an extraordinary performance to have a chance, but of course we are looking forward to this match.” And asked about the coaching situation: “We want to sign a new head coach already in the coming days!”
