After quite some time, Maribor, Slovenia has been chosen as the prestigious host city for the MEVZA Final 4 Women’s Volleyball Tournament in March 2024. Set to take place over the weekend of the 2nd and 3rd of March, the event promises to be a thrilling showcase of top-tier athleticism and sportsmanship.

The teams qualified for the final 4 are HAOK MLADOST ZAGREB, SWIETELSKY BEKESCSABA, OK CALCIT KAMNIK, and OK NOVA BRANIK KBM MARIBOR.

“Another season of the MEVZA league is coming to an end. We can be satisfied with what we’ve seen, and we are glad to have welcomed some new clubs to the league, such as DINAMO ZAGREB. We hope that representatives from Slovakia will join us next season, and it would be nice if clubs from Hungary, such as VASASS, would also join, along with a few more clubs, considering that volleyball in Hungary is experiencing significant growth. I want to announce that MEVZA will organize a MEVZA Champions Tournament for all member associations before the start of the league next season. Year after year, we aim to implement ideas for improving volleyball in the region. I hope we will succeed in finalizing negotiations with the league’s main sponsor,” stated MEVZA Sports Director Frane Zanic.

The tournament schedule is packed with intense matchups, beginning with the semifinal games on Saturday, March 2nd. The first semifinal game will kick off at 15:30 local time, featuring HAOK MLADOST ZAGREB facing off against SWIETELSKY BEKESCSABA. Following that, at 18:00, fans can witness the second semifinal game between OK CALCIT KAMNIK and OK NOVA BRANIK KBM MARIBOR.

As the competition heats up, Sunday, March 3rd, will see the battle for third place at 14:30 local time, followed by the highly anticipated final match at 17:00, where the two top teams will vie for the championship title.

Following the final match, an exhilarating award ceremony will take place to honor the top three teams in the tournament. Players, coaches, and fans alike will gather to celebrate the achievements of the athletes and to recognize their dedication and hard work throughout the competition.
