After a short break due to the holiday season, the MEVZA League resumes with one fixture on Saturday. Table leaders OK Merkur MARIBOR (SLO) will be hosting last season‘s bronze-medallists Union Raiffeisen WALDVIERTEL (AUT).

In the first matchup this season three months ago, Sebastijan Skorc’s team celebrated a clean sweep at the Zwettl sports hall. Also because of that, the Slovenian side will go into the match as the clear favourites. OK Merkur MARIBOR have managed a 6-3 win-loss record this far, while the ‘Nordmänner’ have secured nine points out of the seven matches they have played up until now.

“Of course, we will try to deliver a good performance again and be aggressive right from the start – as we have always been this season so far. We know that a win would mean the qualification for the Final Four tournament,” OK Merkur MARIBOR head coach Sebastijan Skorc explaines.

In December, the MEVZA Executive Committee announced that URW would be hosting the Final Four tournament for the second consecutive year. Therefore, the 2020-2021 edition of the MEVZA League will be reaching its climax on February 27 and 28 at the Zwettl sports hall. As organisers the ‘Nordmänner’ are already qualified for the season’s grand finale.
