MÁV Elöre Foxconn beat Rieker UJS Komárno in the first game of Tournament 1 of the MEVZA men’s Middle European League in Székesfehérvár.
The Hungarian hosts took off with a flying start in the VOK Sportcsarnok. They were on fire with the desire to prove themselves and took the first set almost without resistance. Komárno picked up the pace in the second set and came back into the game. This was the first set MÁV Elöre Foxconn’s men’s volleyball team lost in this season.
Two more close sets followed, but the somewhat unusual situation did not shake the Hungarians, who won the third and fourth sets 25-23, and although they bid farewell to their unblemished record this year, they recorded another confident victory. The best player of the game was the Albanian outside spiker of the home team, Redjo Koci, who scored 30 points.

Flash quotes:
“I told the boys before the game that the opponent has very experienced players. I even played in the same team with one of them. We knew that if we made a mistake, they would come back hard. However, we were also sure that if the match went to 4-5 sets, we would win because our stamina is much better. This tournament is important for us, because our team can improve with these fierce encounters” – said Zoltán Dávid, head coach of MÁV Elöre Foxconn after the match.
“In general we followed everything the coach told us. I liked the fighting spirit of our team. We are in good shape, we worked a lot in the past 3-4 weeks. The CEV Challenge Cup and the MEVZA tournaments will be a lot to handle, but we did all we could and hopefully that will be enough to live up to the expectations” – Redjo Koci, captain of MÁV Elöre Foxconn.
“The home team is of a very high quality and has a very strong attacking game. There were very few positives for us in this match. We could have been much better at receiving and much more creative in our settings” – said Richard Vlkolinskiy, head coach of Rieker UJS Komárno.
“It was a difficult game for us as we have a lot of games now. We had to be prepared but they played really well. It is difficult to tell what went wrong. Our defending did not work” – told Maros Kasperkevic, captain of Rieker UJS Komárno.
