CEV, Luxembourg. With a new season of the CEV Champions League Volley scheduled to start today with matches from the various Pools across the 1st Round of the men’s competition, in the midst of an uncertain situation caused by the ongoing COVID-19 global pandemic, unfortunate news comes from Zagreb, the location of the first Pool A tournament.
Due to several positive test results within the team, Mladost Zagreb has withdrawn from the competition, as a result all its matches have been cancelled. For the two other teams from Pool A, Erzeni Shijakut and Fino Kaposvar VC, the competition continues as they will face each other for a spot in the 2nd Round, with their direct matches remaining on the previously agreed schedule.
A similar situation has occurred in the women’s competition with Minchanka Minsk withdrawing from their 1st Round tie against Allianz MTV Stuttgart. Thus, the German team will be moving forward into the 2nd Round of the women’s competition.
