Group Stage Completed in Zadar as Semi-Final Line-up Set at MEVZA Junior Club Championship

The MEVZA Junior Club Championship continued on Friday in Zadar with the decisive matches of the group stage, as teams battled for positions ahead of the knockout rounds. The second day of competition delivered several convincing performances and confirmed the semi-final pairings in both the women’s and men’s tournaments.

Women’s competition

In Group C, the CRO Team maintained its strong momentum and completed the group stage with two additional victories. They opened the day with a 3-1 win against V.C. Ramat Aviv U19 and later secured a commanding 3-0 triumph over Union Bisamberg Hollbrunn U19.

Újpest Torna Egylet U19 also impressed, first defeating Lemesos Volleyball U19 in straight sets (3-0), before adding a 3-1 victory against Union Bisamberg Hollbrunn U19. Lemesos Volleyball U19 responded later in the day with a 3-1 win over V.C. Ramat Aviv U19.

In Group D, PVK Olymp Praha U19 emerged as the dominant side of the day. The Czech team recorded two important victories, first defeating Békéscsabai Röplabda Sportegyesület (BRSE) U19 by 3-0 and then overcoming OK Olimpik U19 by 3-1.

BRSE U19 closed their campaign with a 3-0 win against Maccabi Hadera U19.

The semi-finals in the women’s tournament are scheduled for Saturday. CRO Team will face OK Olimpik U19 at 15.30 while Újpest Torna Egylet U19 will meet PVK Olymp Praha U19 at 18.30.

Men’s competition

In Group A, OK Fužinar Ravne U19 delivered a flawless day at OŠ Zadarski otoci. The Slovenian side defeated VC Brno U19 by 3-0 in the morning and later added another straight-sets victory against Penezugyor Sportgyesulet U19.

VC Brno U19 recovered in the evening session with a 3-1 win over Maccabi SVA Rehovot U19.

In Group B, OK Ribola Kaštela U19 confirmed their quality with a 3-1 victory over TJ Spartak Velike U19 (25-14, 25-19, 22-25, 25-19), securing their place among the top four.

Saturday will bring the men’s semi-finals as well. VC Ribola Kaštela U19 will face VC Brno U19 at 15:30, while OK Fužinar Ravne U19 will take on Kecskeméti Junior Sport Nonprofit Kft. U19 at 18.30.

With the group stage concluded and the semi-final matchups confirmed, the MEVZA Junior Club Championship now enters its decisive phase, as the teams prepare to compete for a place in Sunday’s finals in Zadar.
