First day of beach volleyball tournament promises exciting finale despite bad weather

The first day of the MEVZA Beach Volleyball Tournament, which started today on the market square, was successful despite adverse weather conditions. Despite the unsettled weather, all scheduled matches could take place as planned. The teams showed exceptional commitment, fighting spirit – and above all, especially great stamina. The spectators enjoyed spectacular rallies and admired the perseverance of the players who gave their best despite the cold, wind and rain.

“Now the sun can come out again,” said Simon Varges, chairman and organiser.

Not only the players put up a brave fight today, but also the crew, the volunteers and the ball kids. Last year’s winners in the women’s singles without losing a set Magdalena Rabitsch/Anja Trailovic performed very well. The young Carinthians – last year’s winners in Innsbruck were in a class of their own in Pool D.
