Sofia, Bulgaria. The Israeli duo Anita Dave and Sofia Starikov, who were the only MEVZA team in the main draw of the already fourth edition of the Sofia, 1-star this season, advanced from Pool Play to the Round of 12 after playing both of their pool matches today.
In the first pool match, Dave/Starikov met the strong Swiss duo Zobrist/Bentele that were able to continue their winning run of last days. Consequently, the Israelis played their second match against Bulgaria to secure the third place in their pool and advance to the elimination round. They did so with a dominant win in two straight sets over the local team.
Israel’s Anita Dave/Sofia Starikov will now meet another local team from Bulgaria Mishonova/Nikolova D. in the Round of 12. With a win, they would advance to the quarterfinals, where the Italians Margherita Bianchin and Chiara They are already waiting for their next opponents after topping their own pool.
