Home favourites Martina Williams and Marie-Sára Štochlová are still in contention for a podium finish at the 2-Star World Tour event held in Brno. They made their way to the semis on Saturday following their victory in the quarterfinals in a Czech derby with Barbora Hermannová and Michaela B?inková.
Martina Williams and Marie-Sára Štochlová started the day with a victory over the American players Sara Hughes/Megan Kraft without losing a set (21-14, 21-17). “We did not start this tournament in Brno very well, but today it was completely different,” said Martina Williams after the match. They extended their winning streak into the quarterfinals, as they did not drop a set even in the matchup with Hermannová and B?inková (21-17, 21-11).

“We are really looking forward to tomorrow because we came here to fix the bad taste left from our performance in Prague, so we cannot wait for the semi-finals. We really like Brno, the environment of the tournament is beautiful, and it is just a pity that the weather is not better, so that more fans would come here.”
Marie-Sara Štochlová (CZE)
On Sunday, the Czech pair Williams/Štochlová will face the Germans Cinja Tillmann/Svenja Müller, with the second semi featuring Americans Betsi Flint/Emily Day and the New Zealand pair Alice Zeimann/Shaunna Marie Polley, winners of the 1-Star tournament held in Cortegaça, Portugal, earlier this summer.
