The MEVZA Beach Volleyball Club Championship concluded today in Bratislava, with BVC Ludus Ljubljana claiming the women’s title and Beachclub Strahov securing victory in the men’s competition, delivering intense matches and thrilling golden set deciders in both categories.
Women’s Tournament
The women’s competition witnessed a dramatic final, where BVC Ludus Ljubljana from Slovenia emerged victorious against Hungary’s EDRA after a tense golden set battle.
In the semifinals, BVC Ludus Ljubljana faced Beach Sport in a gripping contest. The Slovenian side dominated the first match (21-10, 21-12), but Beach Sport fought back in the second match (21-13, 21-16) to force a golden set. However, Ludus Ljubljana proved their resilience, securing a 21-14 win to advance to the final.
The other semifinal saw EDRA taking on the home team, BVC Bratislava 1. EDRA claimed victory in two hard-fought matches (2-1 in both), booking their place in the final.
The bronze medal match pitted Beach Sport against BVC Bratislava 1, with the Slovakian team clinching third place after two straight-set victories (2-1, 2-0). In the grand finale, BVC Ludus Ljubljana took the first match comfortably (21-14, 21-18), but EDRA fought back with a 21-14, 21-18 win in the second. The championship was ultimately decided in a nerve-wracking golden set, where the Slovenian side triumphed 27-25 to claim the title.
Men’s Tournament
The men’s final featured Beachclub Strahov and BVC Bratislava 1, delivering yet another golden set decider.
In the semifinals, Beachclub Strahov faced BVC Ludus Ljubljana. The Czech team won both matches (2-1, 2-0), securing their place in the final. The second semifinal was a thrilling contest between Beach Service Club z.s. A and BVC Bratislava 1. Each team won one match (2-0, 0-2), leading to a decisive Golden Set, where BVC Bratislava 1 prevailed 21-12.
The bronze medal match saw BVC Ludus Ljubljana take on Beach Service Club z.s. A. Both matches were closely contested, with Beach Service Club z.s. A securing the win after two hard-fought encounters (2-1, 2-1). In the final, Beachclub Strahov won the first match (21-19, 21-10), but BVC Bratislava 1 responded with a strong performance in the second (24-22, 21-15). The championship boiled down to a golden set, where Beachclub Strahov clinched the title.
