
CEV, Luxembourg. Pool D of the CEV Champions League Volley 1st Round has today concluded after a series of two tournaments that took place in Austria with fantastic efforts from everyone involved to make sure the proper standards of competition are respected in a time when organising a sporting event is a major achievement.
With a place in the 2nd Round of the competition at stake, all three teams involved were going in with high hopes, however Dinamo Moscow proved to be a dominating force, managing four wins out of four matches and only losing three sets along the way.
Final standing – Pool D:
1. Dinamo Moscow (RUS) – 4 wins and 12 points
2. SK Zadruga Aich/Dob AUT) – 1 win and 4 points
3. Neftochimik Burgas (BUL) – 1 win and 2 points
Dinamo Moscow vs SK Zadruga Aich/Dob
- Dinamo’s win was obtained with a lot of confidence, Tsvetan Sokolov and his teammates officially becoming the champions of Pool D organised in Bleiburg, Carinthia. During today’s match the Russians showed that the players are going towards the next Round with great determination and continuity of play.
- Even though it had become clear after yesterday’s reults that the Russian titan was going to progress to the 2nd Round, the Austrian champions did not make it easy for them to get their final win, playing with the same determination shown throughout the tournament.
- MVP of today’s match was the Russian star Romanas Shkulyavichus, who showed his great skills in every part of the game, eventually scoring 15 points.
