Austria’s national champions and last season’s MEVZA League silver medallists SK Zadruga AICH/DOB suffered a very disappointing 0-3 (21-25, 15-25, 19-25) home defeat against Mladost ZAGREB this Saturday evening. As a result, the Croatian side recaptured the top spot in the men’s MEVZA League standings on ten points followed by defending champions ACH Volley Ljubljana on nine.

“That was a really weak performance shown by our team, I am shocked and almost speechless. We knew that ZAGREB would be a very strong opponent but, on the other hand, our players were inferior in all respects. There was no fighting spirit at all, they served like kids. Anyway, there is a lot to do in the coming weeks”, AICH/DOB sport director Martin Micheu was bitterly disappointed.

Already in November, AICH/DOB and ZAGREB are expected to meet each other again in the second round of the 2020 CEV Champions League Volley edition!

Mladost Ribola KASTELA and Calcit Volley KAMNIK are due to contest the closing fixture of the fourth leg on Sunday evening.
