The MEVZA Beach Volley Tour stop in Bibinje delivered another intense day of competition on Saturday, as both the men’s and women’s fields moved through the Round of 12 and Quarterfinal stages, confirming the semifinal line-ups ahead of Sunday’s decisive matches.
The women’s draw featured a mix of dominant performances and closely fought matches as teams battled for places in the semifinals.
Israel’s Dave/Lavie continued their strong run in Bibinje, first defeating Austria’s Hammarberg/Bisanz 2-0 (21-15, 21-15) in the Round of 12, before securing their semifinal spot with another straight-sets win over Slovenia’s Reginova/Harmanova (21-18, 21-13) in the quarterfinals.
Top seeds Gonzalez/Danenberg (ISR) advanced through a demanding quarterfinal match against Hungary’s Honti-Majoros/Padar, coming through a tight three-set battle 2-1 (22-20, 14-21, 15-12) to reach the final four.
On the other side of the draw, Czech pair Novotna/Mrkvickova progressed with a solid 2-0 win over Slovakia’s Nemec Elekova/Bundzelova (21-17, 21-15), while Hungary’s Honti-Majoros/Posztós-Szabó booked their semifinal place by defeating Czech qualifiers Rudicka/Hrubanová 2-0 (21-17, 21-14).
Women’s Semifinals (Sunday)

The women’s competition will conclude on Sunday with the semifinals in the morning session, followed by the bronze medal match and the final.
The men’s tournament also produced an exciting quarterfinal round, highlighted by several close finishes and three-set battles.
Czech top seeds Semerad/Stocek survived a tough all-Czech quarterfinal against Vala/Dostal, recovering from a set down to win 2-1 (21-23, 21-11, 15-11) and secure their place in the semifinals.
They will face Austria’s Klemen/Holzinger, who advanced with a straight-sets victory over Czech qualifiers Kulis/Schinko 2-0 (22-20, 21-17).
On the opposite side of the bracket, Austria’s Sponer P./Petutschnig continued their strong form with a hard-fought 2-1 win over Israel’s Hershko/Lanciano (21-16, 18-21, 15-13), while Luxembourg’s Weber/Hilbert booked their semifinal place after defeating Slovenia’s Mugerli/Jevšnik in another tight three-set match (17-21, 21-11, 17-15).

MEVZA U16 Championship Gets Underway in Portorož
The MEVZA U16 Beach Volleyball Championship officially got underway in Portorož on Wednesday, with the region's youngest talents opening three days of competition. The opening day featured the first two rounds of pool play, with plenty of exciting matches and several closely contested encounters across both the men's and women's tournaments.
