Tel Aviv, Israel. The Israel Volleyball Association (IVA) held elections on Sunday night, with Mr Asher Kaso now due to lead the country’s Volleyball family for the next four-year term. Kaso, 58, who is married and has four children, has been working as the principal of the Ramot Yam High School for the past five years.
“I know we face a very big challenge, especially in these days of uncertainty,” Mr Kaso said following his election as IVA President. “I take this position with much love and passion for the sport and I will be doing my best to develop Israeli Volleyball from the professional level to connecting it with the community. I have an extensive background and experience in terms of management and a vision,” he continued. “We will work all together – clubs, athletes and all members of the big Volleyball family – to leverage and promote Volleyball to a respectable place in Israeli sports.”
After playing host to a 1-Star World Tour event in Tel Aviv in early November 2019, international competition is due to return to Israel in January with the EuroVolley 2021 Men qualifiers. The home team will take on Austria and Bulgaria for a spot in the Final Round co-hosted by Poland, Czech Republic, Estonia and Finland in the summer of 2021.
