MEVZA League – Calcit Kamnik, Spartak Myjava and V. O. Budapest celebrate clean sweeps

Hosts UVC Holding GRAZ have to cope with another heavy defeat in the MEVZA League. On Sunday, OK Calcit KAMNIK from Slovenia needed just 62 minutes to celebrate a clean sweep (25-17, 25-15, 25-17) of Austria’s reigning national champions. The win takes OK Calcit KAMNIK to the fourth place in the current standings on ten points (3-5 w/l). Top scorers: Kemal Imsirovic (12) and Michael Ladner (7); Miha Bregar (13), Danilo Pavlovic and Diko Puric (8 each).

In the second match in the men’s competition this evening, TJ Spartak MYJAVA secured a 3-0 (25-17, 25-23, 25-16) away win at bottom of the table VKP BRATISLAVA in a Slovakian derby. Therefore, TJ Spartak MYJAVA moved up to seventh place in the standing, overtaking UVC Holding GRAZ. The Austrian team has suffered six 0-3 losses in a row. Top scorers: Daouda Yacoubou (22) and Michal Trubac (7); Michal Zeman (12), Matus Konc and Patrik Pokopec (11 each).

In the women’s MEVZA League, Vasas Óbuda BUDAPEST cruised to an impressive 3-0 (25-12, 25-13, 25-10) win over bottom of the table OK Marina KASTELA. Already on Saturday, the second placed Hungarian team could claim an away victory at the competition rookies. The first encounter, however, was much more exciting: Vasas Óbuda BUDAPEST needed 115 minutes to edge the underdogs in the tie-breaker.
