European Cups bring OK Maribor’s Champions League debut

OK Maribor, the newly crowned national champion of last season will have its Champions League debut tomorrow against no lesser team than the last year Champions League winner Grupa Azoty KEDZIERZYN-KOZLE from Poland.

Three Czech teams in Jihostroj Ceske Budejovice, VK Dukla Liberec and CEZ Karlovarsko will be joined by the Croatian record Champion Mladost Zagreb in this week’s CEV Volleyball Cup action. For all of the teams it will be the first of the two encounters in the 16th final of the CEV Cup.

CEV Challenge Cup features five Middle European teams from five different countries. Headlining the line-up is the Slovenian powerhouse ACH Volley Ljubljana, who is joined by the Austrian UVC Weberzeile Ried im Innkreis, Omonoia Nicosia from Cyprus, Maccabi Yeadim Tel-Aviv from Israel and MOK Mursa Osijek from Croatia. Similar to the CEV Cup, the teams are also having the first of the two encounters in the 16th finals of the competition.
