Bimal-Jedinstvo BRCKO celebrate big win over Mladost ZAGREB

In the women’s MEVZA League, second-placed ZOK Bimal-Jedinstvo BRCKO celebrated a very important win in their quest for a Final Four spot. The national champions of Bosnia and Herzegovina needed four sets (25-18, 23-25, 25-22, 25-18) to emerge victorious from their clash with Mladost ZAGREB on Wednesday.

As a result, the MEVZA League rookies have improved their win-loss record to 6-4 and they are just a small step away from qualifying for the Final Four tournament that will be taking place in Nova Gorica on February 8 and 9. Mladost ZAGREB, on the other hand, had to cope with a hard setback. But the reigning Croatian national champions still stand a chance of making it to the final stage of the competition.

“Congratulations to my teammates for delivering such a great performance and securing a big win. I hope, we will continue our campaign successfully”, Bimal-Jedinstvo middle blocker Ana Gajic explained, while Mladost ZAGREB head coach Sasa Ivanisevic said: “The hosts showed more desire to win. The result clearly shows who the better team was today. Therefore, congratulations to our opponents!”

In the men’s MEVZA League bottom of the table OK Mladost BRCKO (BIH) suffered a 2-3 (29-27, 23-25, 25-18, 22-25, 6-15) home loss against fifth-placed OK MARIBOR (SLO) on Wednesday night.

This coming Friday, the men’s competition is going to resume in Zwettl, where Final Four tournament hosts Union Raiffeisen WALDVIERTEL (AUT) will face OK Mladost BRCKO. The next women’s match-up on Saturday, will see Mladost ZAGREB (CRO) playing against UOK Banjaluka Volley BANJA LUKA (BIH).
