Slovenian teams battle for MEVZA League top spots

The MEVZA League is going to resume with six fixtures between November 30 and December 2. In the men’s competition Calcit Volley KAMNIK (SLO) will challenge their national rivals and leaders in the current standing ACH Volley LJUBLJANA (SLO) this coming Sunday. The defending champions are two points ahead of Calcit Volley, but they have played one match more than their closest pursuers so far.

The first encounter this season about two month ago ended in a surprising sweep for Calcit Volley. “Of course it was nice to start with a win over ACH Volley, but they were not in full strength at that time. Anyway, three points are three points. I don’t think that their players are already focusing on the Champions League match next week. Rather, they are aware of the importance of this MEVZA League duel, because it will also count for the national championship. We will do our best to overcome them for the second time in a row. To play on home soil in front of our home crowd will be an advantage”, Calcit Volley’s middle blocker Mario Koncilja is looking forward to the top match of the week.
