“A fresh, new start for the MEVZA League”

The most successful Austrian team in recent years SK Posojilnica Aich/Dob hosted on Wednesday, 7 August in Bleiburg the meeting between MEVZA’s executives and team representatives of the clubs participating in the upcoming season of MEVZA League.

MEVZA’s President, Karl Hanzl, Vice President, Zdeslav Barac, and the newly appointed Secretary General, Ivan Iro, who is also appointed as the league’s Competition Director presented the next year’s format.

Eight (8) men teams from four countries and seven (7) women teams representing three countries will compete in a double round robin format (each team playing every other team home and away), concluded by a final four.  With the start of the season less than 2 months away and teams commencing their pre-season camps, we are already looking forward for the new and improved competition to begin.

Men’s opening round is set for 4.-7. October and the women will follow a week later, 11.-13. October. The Final Four locations will be decided after the tender results by the end of October. However, the Final Four dates were already announced and are set for the weekends of 8.-9. February 2020 (women) and 7.-8. March 2020 (men).
